Welcome millions upon millions perhaps billions of faithful podcast listeners. We are your hosts, Jason Kimber and Dave Simmons. We'll bring you along with us as we share life stories from our experiences living in small towns, or in Jason's case, an unincorporated community. That's true. Along with genius suggestions for solving the world's problems and a whole lot of laughs. This is the Small Towns Podcast. Dave, have you ever heard the phrase long in the tooth? Like you're getting a little long in the tooth. I've heard it. Well, I I as I think what that means is that we're getting older. Yeah. A little long in the tooth. It's it's a shame, really. It is a shame because I I feel great. You look great. That's another one on the T. You're a good friend. I mean, like I say, it's it's uh again, I've I've shared my age. We're we're in our 40s, mid-40s. Yep. And sometimes, you know, I can remember different stories easily that happened, gosh, 20, 30 years ago, piece of cake. I mean, I I actually think one of my earliest memories is I was about three years old. So again, yeah, I so I can I've got a good memory, but then there's like I can't remember what I did yesterday, type of question. I know. Isn't that weird? It is, but there's definitely a few, but that's the memory. That's the memory for there's a few things as like as this podcast has kind of lent itself to little trips down memory lane. I was like, how did I even remember that? I know. You know what for me is a lot of times it has to do with songs. Okay, sure. I don't know, like do you do you remember Mullin the Law? And sure. Did you have like a Walkman that you put on your on your little waistband? And yeah, I do, but interesting, like that was that was quite an investment back then. Those Walkmans were cheap. No, but they were awesome, though. They were so happening to rewind that tape though at the end of at the end of Millie Vanilli. Tell me you didn't listen to Millie Vanilli. Oh, of course I'll listen to Millie Vanilli. You can blame that on the rain. I I I looked it up just the other day. I'm like, I what do these guys sound like now? Yeah. I mean, how is it? It's not great. No. But I played it in the kid and the kids are in the car and they're like, what is this? And the sad thing is, is I knew all the words. I still know all the words. Yeah, as you should. It's pretty crazy to me how how music can can just stick in your head really, really easily. And it's a good, I mean, you see that in marketing with the jingles or whatnot, you know. Well, I guess that's why I'm sure why it is on your side. Yeah, I mean there's another one. Well, it'll come to me. But at the end of it, I add my own little thing, and I can't not say it without adding my own little thing at the end. So maybe they need me to help them market their stuff. Well, I mean, you'd be great. I got other things to do. I'm busy. I got scouts. Yeah, I got scouts. That's so I have now we're gonna say that. We have my sister just told me a story this last weekend. Uh to me, just cracked me up. So when her son would go to soccer practice, if the soccer practice was scheduled to be a harder one, more difficult, like where they had to run a lot more than normal and do certain things that were just not the fun part of soccer practice, there was a certain kid on the team that pretty much always would just say he couldn't be there because he had scouts. He's had to go to scouts like seven times this week. Yeah, somehow scouts is coming up. So from now on, I'm just gonna just always something just I don't want to do it. Hey Dave, do you want to come help me uh you know move? I got scouts. Yeah, I gotta get I gotta get the scouts. I can't get the scouts taken care of. It's not a bad idea. I don't know. Do you remember the movies ghost the movie Ghostbusters? Oh, oh, oh it's one of my favorite movies of all time. It's funny how I can't believe you brought that movie up of all movies. I love this. Yeah. Because I don't. How do you not remember the movie? I don't remember. I don't I think it might have had something to do with my problem with masculophobia. And you don't like Halloween and ghosts, it's not really your will. No, but I did see it. Okay. And there are a couple lines in it which are funny. I had a I had an old mission buddy that he he liked that one and he'd quote it, and one of them he'd like to say is, remember when they the one thing they couldn't do when they were shooting their little ray guns or whatever is look directly at the trap. Yes, yes. But as all of us would do, if I was to say, Don't think of a pink elephant, you'd use the track. So I think I think one of them says, Whatever you do, do not look directly at the trap. And the guy says, I look at the trap, Ray! That's Bill Burry. Bill Burry says, I looked at the trap, Ray. Or uh, where do those stairs go? They go up. Yeah. That is a great movie. Can I just real quick I don't? Yeah, do. Don't. Because that movie holds a special spot in my heart. One, I love it. I took my girl Kennedy to the 30th anniversary of it because they re-released it into the theaters. It's been a few years ago now. And I just loved it. So fun on the big screen. But I remember we happened to be in town, or for the town, Burley, Idaho. And I think we're out to my Uncle Eldon's. At the time he lived in Burley, he and uh Joanne. And we decided kind of on a whim that we were gonna go to the move, go we're gonna go to the movies, Ghostbusters. So we all jump in the back of my Aunt Betty Jean's truck. It was like an old, I think it was like a maybe an 82 Chevy Jim. I mean, just an older truck. Well, it wasn't older then, but we jumped in the back of the truck, but all of us just jumped in the back of the truck and we put a couch back there. Oh, sweet. Yeah, and I just remember Eldon sitting in the middle of the couch and all of us nieces and nephews kind of surrounded him. And then we just started singing. And we were just trying to follow his lead because he would make up the song. It was like, Aunt Betty Jean lives at works at the hospital, lives on Malta Drive. I mean, this is this is a true story, just singing it. He's spitballing it. He just spitballing it. We're singing, trying to do a little bit of shoe-wop bop, you know, in the back. Oh, I don't think we did that. But just such a great movie because I I love that, and for some reason, it that's one thing that I I can never forget. I just, I mean, I had to be, I think Ghostbusters was was that a so is it the drive-in you went? No, no, no, no. We just drove to the movie theater in the back of the truck because it's a different time. Yeah, different time. And this was right down Overland Avenue, main drag right down Burley, Idaho. But you're a good hour away from there, right? Well, we were no, we were actually at his house in Burley, so we were just across the room. But from Grass Creek, you two hours? Two hours. Yeah, two hours. So you don't have you don't have a movie house anywhere close. That's why my mom had to become the blockbuster of Grouse Creek with her vast VHS collection. Yeah. Did you sell all those? Probably with money. Well, I probably, and we got rid of most of them. I didn't have anybody to play them. Were they pirated? Most. No, I can't, you can't. You have two VCRs set side by side to play the one and record it on the other? No. Because that's piracy. It is piracy. And that's a lot. And there's also like maybe not piracy, but I definitely. Is this the statute? Statue. Is this the statue of limitations? Yeah, I think you're good. I hope so because living in Grouse Creek, where I think I've maybe mentioned this before, but you didn't have an address or it was P.O. Box 8. But like my mom would join an MGM movie club, and like her address was like 3500 Wagon Wheel Drive. But then I would also join MGM Movie Club with an address of 777 Golden Willow Lane. And then my- Yeah, but we could all refer because if you refer it to your friend, then you got like seven movies for a penny. You remember? I mean, uh so I think it was fraud. Yeah, I think it was fraud. I think it was fraud. I think it was fraud. These are the things that go on in a small town. They do. It's small town shenanigans. It's corrupt, is what it is. What you need is wild earth in that follow the money. Here's the problem is there are still people out there in Grouse Creek. Yeah, we might have just stuck the feds on them. Well, I hope not. I mean, I hope not too. Do you think any feds are listening to our podcast? Uh, probably. Because, like, I mean, as soon as I said fraud, guess it fraud. Yeah, you can't say anything anymore. But when you think about that, I it seems like we started this. Like, what what are other things that you just randomly remember? So here's here's what got me about that. Yeah, so at when I played the Millie Vanilli for the kids, it also helped me remember Bobby Brown. So now Bobby Brown, didn't he have the wasn't he one of the main songs in Ghostbusters? Yes. No. Well Ray Parker. Yeah, who you're gonna call Ghostbusters? But but Bobby, there was a song. So get this. Yeah. Now I'm not gonna have every word right, yeah, but I'm gonna be pretty dang close. Let's hear it. Got it ready? Yeah. Too hot to handle, too cold to hold. They call the Ghostbusters in control. Had them thrown apart before a bunch of children. Well, all the while the sign was under the building. So they packed up, they broke out of grip, came equipped, grabbed the proton packs on their back, and they split. Found out about Figal, the messer of evil. Trying to battle my boys? That's not legal. Oh we know that you know that I don't know. You don't even like the movie. No, I don't even maybe they played it a lot on the radio. And maybe I was sitting by the radio ready to push recorders as soon as it came up. I can't believe that was first of all. Well, thank you. That was beautiful. Thank you. I and there's a golden throw. There's other things out there that I just I remember. Sure. Like my fourth grade. Okay. All of our people are we all remember when the challenger exploded. Sure. I remember where I was at when I was. Me too. Mr. Watts' classroom. We were watching on channel channel one. Yeah, super sad. Yeah. Well, how do I remember who was on board on that spaceship challenger? Krista McCulliff, Francis Scoby, Michael Smith, Judith Resnick, Ronald McNair, Lysa Namazuka, and Gregory Jivus. Oh. How do I know that? I don't know how you know that because I know Krista McCullough because she was the teacher of the turn up. Yeah. Well, we had a in Providence Elementary tons of music in that school where we all seem to remember it. Yeah. If I'm around a Providence Elementary kid and I start singing um Being Eaten by a Boa, constricting, a Boa, constricted. Everybody's gonna know it. Everybody's gonna join me. Everybody's gonna know it. And they're all gonna keep going with me on that song. Did you know that one? Oh, I didn't know that one, but I but I most assuredly knew a ton of like, I think this is a little bit more traditional, but oh, would you like to swing on a stuff? I like this, I like the snapping with it. They probably had to do that too. For sure, for sure. Well, uh in fourth grade, that's when the challenger exploded, and so they really got on top of it quick and created a program, an assembler that fourth grade was gonna put on. And I remember my part. Oh, I remember the song on board spaceship challenger. There was a tragedy. I know, and it goes on and on. Oh, it does. We honor those who lost their lives and praise their memory. There's a lesson to be learned here. As hard as it might seem, they died in serving all mankind. And we're gonna bring it home here. Living out our dreams. Tender, right? And then would you actually sing the names? So uh now that was just my part. Oh and then I'd go to the microphone and say something like Kristen McCollum, Francis Scoby, Michael Smith, Judith Resnick, Ronald McNair, Eliza and Anazuka gave their lives to being all that they can be. We honor those who lost their lives and praise their memory. Oh then I'd walk away, the next guy would come up. I wonder if that was the assembly that Greg Henderson passed out standing on the back side of the you know how they have the little steps and we're all lined up and all and and I think Greg locked his locked his knees. Locked his knees, and the poor guy just went right over. Yeah. Oh, see, oh bless his heart. Yeah, bless his head his heart, yeah. Yeah, and I mean, well, we all learned from him that day. And he should pat himself on the back too. He taught a lot of fourth graders not to lock your knees when you're standing up there. I there's a lot of those songs. Um, growing up in a small school, like I did, it was first of all, the whole school I talked about this K through 10. So, but kindergarten to the fourth grade was all in one room called the Little Room. Okay. And then five through ten was the big room. Were they actually different sizes? Or was it just the little kids and the big kids? It was just the the in interestingly enough, the big room was more of an open because it also served as the lunchroom area as well. Well, you you gotta be, you gotta, you gotta work with what you got. Yeah, but we would always do a uh a Christmas play. Okay, and I remember one year I was in fourth grade. It was uh The Christmas Wish was the play. Two acts, beautiful. I was little orphan Peter. Were you little? I I was little. I was four, I have I wasn't born this big. Oh. Were you big for your age? No, I wasn't. I was a little guy. Really? You really kind of got my second, you know, my my gross bur, you know. I bet you were adorable. Well, I will I'll show you pictures of the stuff. I've seen the picture. Picture of me and me pee in my pants? Yeah, that's folks. I somehow we gotta get that on the Instagram. We I'll get on the Instagram. I will. Jason is standing front and you know the pictures we all took? First grade. First grade. We all took the pictures in the whole class. Now my class had 20 or 30 kids in my class. This is Jason's entire school. Yeah, yeah, whole school. K through K through 10. How many kids? Well, probably like 28, 29, 30, maybe. In the whole school. Jason is front and center. Yeah. Blue jeans, cool western shirt. Yeah, cool. Tucked in. Tucked in. It was a picture day. Yeah, well, yeah, you gotta look nice. Yeah. And he had pee all over the phone. Yeah, pee myself. I pee myself. And and the funny thing is, is it wasn't like you were standing with your hands kind of in front trying to cover it. Trying to hide it. No, he owned that. Yeah, my hands were in my pockets. Yeah, and he's just almost like kind of like pushing us forward like that's right. Yeah. Pee himself. I peeed him. What are you gonna do about it? Pete him? Pete him good. Why did the teacher or the photographer say, hey, let's put you in the back? Hey, let's put the pee kid in the back. I don't even know his name, but hey, pee pants, let's go to the back. I'm gonna put it, I'll put it on Instagram. Oh, I was adorable. You owned that pee. I did. I knew nobody was gonna say, ew. You're like you care. I don't care. What are you gonna do? It's cool to pick your pants. It's very cool to pee your pants. Maybe Adam Sandler was one who saw this. Oh, I think he did. I I think you might need to. He might stole that information. Yeah, that you know, Billy Miller. It's cool to pick your pants. Only the cool kids are doing it. But the funny thing is, is nobody else did it. Just me. Well, you were a pioneer. But I do, but trend center. Yeah, I was a trend center, and and that whole picture would have been part of this play. Again, this is a couple years later. Again, Christmas wish. I don't mean to go back, but I gotta tell a story. I've got a solo. Like I got a solo that I'm singing, and it's like wishes. Let's see if wishes could grow up on trees. Someone would answer my. I wish for a mom and a papa if I owned a brother and sister to tease. And you're in fourth grade. I was in fourth grade. And at that point, you know, we're on the stage. I come to the microphone to sing my beautiful, beautiful song. Now, my Aunt Sharon, who I love Bearley, remember her earlier podcast member? She ate all cookies. Ate all cookies. Oh. Well, she had a silent uh video camera. Maybe. She had a silent video camera. Like the reels, like you know that? Charlie Chaplin. Charlie Chaplin. So, I mean, and then she would record it like with a like just like with a radio, you know what I mean? But to get the film, well, the problem with that is like it had like a huge light. It was like looking right into the sun. Yeah. And so, like, hey guys, I mean, I know you're all trained actors, but there will be a bright light shining through the whole course of this play because Sharon's gonna record this. I get up there, I see my son, I crush it. Yeah. Crush it. I bet. Uh at the end, spoiler alert, Ryan and Marty, who played the play, the uh people of Mr. and Mrs. Wentworth, the rich benefactors who adopted me. Well, you got your wish. I got my wish. They grew up upon trees. I have a brother and sister to tease. Uh, spoiler alert, we get done. Sharon finishes up. She said, Oh, I forgot to put any film in the camera. Oh no. Yeah, so that treasure is lost to history. They couldn't do and do it over, and I can't. I should have. We should have. Probably should have done it. But that's something I'll never forget that. I mean, it took me, or like another play. Frankly, Franklin. Oh, I just forgot. I was just gonna remember. We did a play about Benjamin Franklin. But you were in fourth grade, and so was I. So it's amazing how that kind of stuff. I wonder if any of our other classmates remember. Remember those songs. Are we weird? Or do you think a lot of people are in that same book? You would think because I bet if any of my classmates are listening, it's just like just me and my chef. We're kind of jazzy school. Yeah, you were. Yeah, those were the songs. I wish I had that song book because there's some great songs that we learned. I I would implore all of our listeners who can go on to Instagram on the Instagram, what is our Instagram? Uh Small Towns Podcast. Small Towns Podcast. Yeah. And share with us if some of the stuff you remember from back then, like in third, fourth grade, if you can remember maybe your part in your in your play or some of the songs that you might have learned. What about it seems like you and I have talked about this before, Dave, but do you remember theme songs of the 80s? Because one of my favorite things to do, come home from school, usually watch like different strokes, facts of life. Yeah, what you're talking about. Oh, Carol. That show was just just tragedy after tragedy with those child stars. Yeah, it really was. There's a lot of good stuff though back then. Family ties with Alex P. Keaton. Alex B. Keaton. He was he was full-blown Ronald Reagan Republican. Yeah. I just loved it. It was so good. Michael J. Fox did so good in that review. How about do you remember this? You know what I mean, Vern? Do you remember that? Oh, yeah, yeah. You know what I mean, Vern? That's um that's Ernest. Ernest. That's Ernest. Who then even kind of went to get like he made Ernest went to camp, Ernest safe Christmas, Ernest Safe's Halloween. Yeah, but it all started, I think, from commercials. For sure. He just had that little catchphrase. You know what I mean, Vern? You know what I mean, Burn. And it it kind of morphed him into a whole character where he made movies and everything. What about this? If I say this catchphrase to you from that time frame, where's the beef? Oh yeah. Wendy's. Where's the beef? That little old lady. Little old lady. Where's the beef? Fair question. I kind of I'm kind of hungry right now. Me too. I remember one time we did a podcast. We we actually gave it peeked behind the curtain again. Uh Dave and I finished up laying down a pod, and then we had a big juicy steak at Texas Roadhouse. So good. I could do it, I was busting. Do you remember busting? Do you remember the time when I ordered applesauces? Oh my gosh. Folks, we were at Texas Roadhouse once. We've been a few times, haven't we? Yeah, we have. Seems to be our place to go. Yeah. And you get two sides with your meal. Sure. Have you ever met a grown man that said, um, I'll have the applesauce? And what? I don't even care what you got after that. It's probably sweet potatoes. Probably sweet potatoes. Can I have applesauce and yams? I left my teeth in the car. You went solid potatoes. You went a different direction. You would all the like, could I just get some applesauce and then maybe just some crayons? Yeah. Well, I mean, look, you gotta save those teeth if you're gonna work on that steak. Yes. I'm gonna probably need applesauce and some yams to go with. So good though. Hey, like I'm I no, I was gonna say I'm not gonna judge you. I judge too. You should you should judge me. Judge away. Yeah, there was a lot of good stuff back there in the 80s, but we couldn't, you can't just TiVo them or whatever it is, D VR them though. TiVo is even dating me a little, isn't it? It is a little bit. That's not around anymore. But TiVo was awesome. It was the very first of the I think it may still be around. I'm not sure. But but yeah, you couldn't just record something that easily. You had to go through the steps of having somebody there to push the VCR to record it, and you had to come back. You know, here I'm gonna throw you under the bus just a little bit. Please, I'm ready. Do our listeners know that you have a days of our lives problem? First of all, let's not speak in the present tense. I've since been cured of my affliction. Yeah, so I haven't watched that. So Bo and Ho don't mean anything to you. Victor Kitiakis. You take that back. You take that back. It's been a while. I know you know it's a big thing. You're right now you're saying, How do you know that? I had two sisters, they watched it. I did not watch that show, but for some weird reason, I remember stuff like that. I mean, there's Marlena, there's Maggie, Maggie. I love Maggie to the day. That is. And and Stefano and EJ Demara and Stefano Demara. Yeah, Jason's got a problem if he's watching soaps. I know, but I started like Heather, I remember she was when she was so sick with Kennedy, our first girl, she just would would have to stay home because she was so, so sick. And so she started watching Days of Our Lives, and then we started recording it, and then I kind of got hooked into it. And I tell you what, though, it gave me anxiety because they never stop. You know how most TV shows have like a season? Yeah. They're every day, 52 weeks of the year, basically. But you know what gets me about that is they still have to learn a script. I don't know how to do it. Every single day. Yes, I I mean, surely they've got to just like record like seven weeks worth and then like have a break. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know, the ins and outs of debuting television. I'd tell you what, but I mean you can anything can happen. It's like a magical universe. Okay, so nowadays kids are watching like Ollie will watch shows on like Nick Nickelodeon and stuff like that, which I think are terrible. They're just ridiculous. Stupid. Yeah. But you can't tell me that Saved by the Bell wasn't just as dumb to our parents as these shows are to us. Well, it shouldn't have been. No, because they were great. They were great. Keller Kapowski. Oh, I had a little something for Keller and Jesse Spano. Oh, yeah. Jesse Spanham mama. I like how AC Slater called her mama. Mama. Yeah, mama. Okay, let me ask you a trivia question. All our listeners out listeners out there see if they know. AC Slater was being recruited for which sport and which college go. Oh. I mean, if you don't know this, then you're really not not trying to say by the Belgian. I would like to say uh USC. No. Okay. Smit that up. You're just guessing. I just put three letters of the alphabet together. I'm gonna say I I I don't think it's quite as obvious as football. No, wrestling. Wrestling. That makes sense. He's being recruited to go to Iowa. Oh, I'd never go to Iowa. Iowa's a big time wrestling school and so I wonder how I have a buddy that he and I obviously used to watch too much. But we didn't he was a mission friend, so we didn't know each other until we were there. Yeah. And we both just knew all this facts. All these facts about it. So even to this day, I'll get a text from it, and it'll just say, hey mom. Mr. Belding. Yeah, Mr. Belding. I love that show. Yeah. Screech. Rest in peace. Rest in peace, Screech. Just recently. Yeah. Relatively recent. Yeah. The other thing that I think our kids, but I'm I'm trying to do they missed out on this, so I'm trying to do the best. Kennedy's getting all these playlists, and I don't even understand some of these music. I just don't get it. But Heather and I, Kennedy, just like what, two or three nights ago, we had to do kind of a late night run to the grocery store. And I'm here to tell you, I wish I had the music queued up because I would. But it was it was the intro music to uh Eye of the Tiger. Oh, Survivor. Yes. It's so good. It's so good. It's like, no, no, no, no, no, I can't, I can't, I can't do it. But then all of a sudden, I rolled out all four windows. Bang bang bang. And I'm like, rising up. I'm just doing it. I'm just seeing back on, back on the street. Did my time, took my chances. Oh, yeah. That that's a distance. And Kennedy was like, she was embarrassed at first. But then I saw another guy who I think was maybe about our age. He just had this big old smile on his face. He loved it. And I like to think he's like, well, there's a cool dad. Oh, absolutely. That was a great one. Oh. If you can't get on board with Rocky Four, I don't want to do that. I don't think you're doing it. I mean, that was that was a classic. I all the Rockies are okay. That one was awesome. Yeah, they I like them all. I'm everyone. I mean, you know, what's even better is when you've learned Bulgarian is close enough to Russian that when you come home and you know Bulgarian and you start hearing Ivan Drago and how he spoke. Yeah. And how she would yell, Ivan, spy! Which means get up! You know, it's on the floor. Yeah. It was I bet that made it even that much more weird trick. You know, even better Spies Like Us. Do you remember the movie Spies Like Us? Dan Akyroyd and uh Chase. So, I mean, you don't know until you get they're trying to speak Russian in a terrible accent. And it's gonna be more funny to me, okay? Yeah. Because I I understand it, and it's and my friends who would understand it too. They accidentally had just launched a nuclear weapon and he says, which means, excuse us, we're sorry, we didn't know. So when you're listening to him say it on the movie, it's funny, but not until you actually hear him say it in Russian and you understand, he's just like, excuse us, we're sorry, we didn't know. I just have this idea. We ought to have a podcast, and we have to have a special guest for this one. I would suggest possibly our friend Teresa of movie quotes. Oh, she'd be good. Yeah, and we could maybe just focus on spies like us, Fletch, Fletch. Here's this one's gonna be super obscure. And if you can get this, um, they'll have to be a high five. Oh, for sure. Belly bump, maybe. Okay, say no more. If I say three concentric circles spinning in different directions simultaneously with an object to stabilize utilizing hand controls. Do you know what that is? My sisters will. I just it is so familiar. But I how about this? It's from the same movie. Whip me, beat me, take away my charge cards. It's NASA! Uh Space Camp.
SPEAKER_01Spacecamp, Max and James.
SPEAKER_00Friends forever. How do I know that?
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Multi-axis trainer, which they had to try to stabilize. We just remember these random, random things. I hope our listeners watched Space Camp. I don't know how I my sisters and I watched that one way too much, I guess. Uh was that was that it wasn't Disney. I don't think so. There was language. Oh, all those 80s movies. Like, watch Back to the Future. You can't watch it now. I will watch Back to the Future upside and down anytime you want. I'm gonna say, I'm gonna put that in as one of the best trilogies of our time. Absolutely. Without question. So good. Are there some holes in the whole thing? Sure. Don't worry about it. I'm not gonna worry about it. Just enjoy the show. So good. Point point jiggles. Come on, 1.21. Oh, it's on jigging. Yeah, that's ridiculous. I mean, I almost walked right after you. Yeah. One point. As soon as I said it, it didn't feel right. It can't be done. Can it? 1.21. Plus, it was like a bolt of lightning, and the problem is nobody knows when or where that's gonna be. I know. He goes, a bolt of lightning. What did you say? A bolt of lightning. Unfortunately, you never know when or where it's gonna strike. We do now. I my I have a my cousin and I, one night, we were having a sleepover. We just started from the beginning and started reciting that entire thing. You did? Yeah, and then I had then I had a mission buddy, old Ryan Balou, he's the greatest guy ever. He and I still to this day quote each other. Oh, uh and I got a text from him the other day, he's like, say hi to your mom for me. Well, listen, I I I I gotta share. I gotta share. I've I think I've told this all story already to you, but like I was up golfing, oh, it was last summer actually, and there's this kid that used to work at in the pro shop, and I used to work, he's just a young kid, like I think relatively soon out of high school. Okay. And I used to work with his grandmother at the bank or Wells Fargo for a lot of years. It just hit me, just out of the blue, that I'm like, I know his grandma, and I I would like to ask about her to make sure she's doing okay. And it just hit me back to the future, too. I'm like, hey kid, say hi to say hello to your grandma for me. And he, I guarantee it just went right over. He's like, oh, okay. I was like, That's funny. Yes, so that is funny. Hey kid, say hello to your grandma for me. Or number one, yeah, say hello to your mom for me. That's we need to do an entire pod on those old movies. Fletch. Yeah. Fletch Lives. What if we compiled a list of uh without talking with each other of our top 10 movies of the youth? Of our youth. Should we do it? Should we do it? Yeah, and then we could almost make it like a movie show. Yeah, like a blast from the past movie, and we'll get a rate, give them ratings. Give ratings. Okay. I think uh that's a good teaser for whoever's listening to this podcast. Yeah, just know that that's coming. It's coming. And you're gonna love it because it's gonna be nostalgic for you too. And you're gonna want to buy every single VHS of these movies. The funny thing is, I haven't still seen them in a long time, and I still can quote them. That's just a testament to the quality of filmmaking. Just cinematography beyond their years. Acting beyond their years. I guess it's fun to remember things that that we just it's it's weird that we remember them, but whether it be music or whether it be entertainment, whatever the case may be, it just helps kind of jog the memory. It's kind of fun to think about it. Yeah, and the spaceship challenger was rough for all of us. Please, you know what? It is, and I promise I'm not making fun, but close us out with just your little part. Good names. Kristen McCullough, Francis Scoby, Michael Smith, Judith Resnick, Ronald McNair, Lyason Onazuka, and Gregory Drivis lost their lives, giving all that they could. I'll have to work on that. We're not making fun, we love them. Thanks again, folks, for listening to another episode of the Small Town Podcast. We're pretty sure we've changed your life for the better. If not, well, we'll try again next time.
