Its been a while since we have been in the studio! This episode was recorded over a year ago, and it shows! Dave and Jason still struggle with the vocabulary of our kids… We said something that might be PG-13…. Problem is, we are not sure…
Welcome millions upon millions of faithful podcast listeners. We are your hosts, Jason Kimber and Dave Simmons. We'll bring you along with us as we share life stories from our experiences living in small towns, or in Jason's case, an unincorporated community. That's true.
SPEAKER_02Along with genius suggestions for solving world problems and a whole lot of laughs. This is the Small Towns Podcast. Welcome to another episode of Small Towns Podcast. I'm Dave Simmons, joined as always by my co-host, Jason Kimberg. Good to see you, Jas.
SPEAKER_01Hey uh Dave, it is good to be seen and uh welcome, welcome to another uh fantastic episode. Well, we hope it's gonna be a fantastic episode.
SPEAKER_02We've uh just before we go on, we like to just visit for a second about thoughts we might have, and then we just go. Yeah. Because we don't we need it to be we need it to be natural. You know? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Very little of this is planned. Yeah, we have said this before. This is this is really um it's it's unvarn Uh I lost the word. It's unvarnished, it's unrehearsed. Yes.
SPEAKER_02Unrehears is a good word. Off the cuff. There are no cuffs. There are no cuffs. I have zero cuffs here. There will be no cuffs at this table. But one thing we have decided on that seems it's it's very important that we have this episode because a while back we did an episode that we like to call teen talk. We were trying to understand the lingo of the teenagers out there, and and it seems very important at this point to as a public service announcement. Yeah. Or a public service to all the other uh middle-aged people to just kind of help them out understand what in the world these teens are talking about.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think so. And keeping in that vein of teen talk, I think they would refer to us in their in their teen talk slang as boomers.
SPEAKER_02Uh uh I'm not a boomer. No, neither am I. They think our parents are boomers. They're boomskys. That's what I like to call them. Boomski. Boomski. But I'm but we're not those guys.
SPEAKER_01No, we're not those, but our kids sometimes think that they are, and they'll use that term. Have you been called a boomer by your kids before? I have.
SPEAKER_02I think they just kind of okay, boomer. Yeah, I yeah. But no, I don't know my kids have said that to me. Okay, all right. Well, you've got good kids.
SPEAKER_01What they're all right. Yeah, I mean that they're the you got great kids, and and and so do I. But you know, it's been a while, even because the time has passed since that teen talk. Um, I want to say it was episode 18. Was that it? I think so. Yeah, I mean, get back, it's fun to listen to. Maybe we'll post that one as well. But I again, but um, even I it doesn't really matter how much time passes, Dave. I feel like there are no new words that are added into the lexicon of our teenagers. They're jargon, like it it is hard to keep up with. And again, as you said, public service at uh PSA.
SPEAKER_02Well, it's funny to me that the some of the words we spoke about, I think it was probably about two years ago that we did teen talk.
SPEAKER_01I think so too.
SPEAKER_02And it some of those words are gone. They're like they're not using them anymore.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I have not heard any of uh kids around me, haven't heard my girls say the words, for instance, I haven't heard them say busin' for a long time.
SPEAKER_02Well, it's funny because I have a son who just returned from an LDS mission. That's right. He said the word business. Oh, he did, and his brother made fun of him because it's been done for since basically after he left. Yeah. Yeah. We don't say that anymore.
SPEAKER_01And and if Strat's not careful, he's gonna get the okay boomer thrown at him.
SPEAKER_02You're so old.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you and Strat did a great job at the local high school football game announced them the other day.
SPEAKER_02Well, he he was definitely calling me an old timer on the air.
SPEAKER_01It was a bit of a threat.
SPEAKER_02It was a bit of a thread. Well, we're we're gonna we're gonna nip that in the bud. We're gonna get a little more professional on our next one.
SPEAKER_01Uh but as we have mentioned, this job though, as it relates to these teen talk slang, like it is a constant, you know, our job is never done, our work is never done. And so I just um I I garnered a list together that has several different phrases. Some I'm familiar with, some one I actually heard on the radio for the first time just yesterday morning, uh, with a kind of a syndicated talk show. Uh Joey and Lauren on the morning 945. I don't know if you've ever listened to him. Yeah, it was syndicated. And uh he introduced a term related to another term that was new to me, so I wrote it down. Okay, well, are we just gonna jump right into this? I let's let's jump in. I don't know how long it's gonna go. I don't know what roads it will take us down.
SPEAKER_02Can I say something else before we get into this? I almost think that this is it could be where the words that I'm hearing in my home are only because of my children and their friends. Because some of the stuff that our buddy Steve Stacy sent, I've never heard in my house. Never heard of them. But his kids, his his oldest is she's a senior. Yeah, so she's she's a year younger than Griff.
SPEAKER_01I mean, they're those they should be similar type of words. And yet, maybe to my earlier comment, these things are changing faster than just yeah, fast. You gotta you gotta keep up. What'd you what'd you hear the other day? What'd you write down? I wrote down the word glaze. Glaze? Glaze. As in a delicious donut. Or a pottery.
SPEAKER_02I went with donut, but pottery, I mean that probably says a lot about normally I'd go don't donut too. I'm I'm trying to watch my donut intake right now. Well, you look great.
SPEAKER_01Thank you. Um, glaze actually, it it is an actually, it's not an iteration, but it is related to, so I'm gonna have to throw two out. It's related to the slang riz. Now, I'm sure you've heard of riz.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, oh, oh, we riz it up. Yeah, you riz it up. With my wife. I gotta clarify that. I tell my kids I got plenty of riz. Plenty, yeah, you do. You do. I mean, I look at the lady I landed. I tell them that every time all the time. Riz it up. I rizzed it up, and this is what happened.
SPEAKER_01What what you're doing, again, I learned this on the radio for the first time yesterday, is if you riz too much, then it turns into glaze. Really? So glaze is no good. It's it's definitely a negative connotation. It's like, okay, it you're over the top. Just calm down. She's beautiful, she's amazing, she's top of her class, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Like, okay, a little too much glaze. Okay. Can you call the person a glazer?
SPEAKER_02I hey glazy.
SPEAKER_01I can't wait for all the feedback on this one because even for me saying glazing it up or you saying glazzy, I'm sure that you can't say that.
SPEAKER_02Um how else would you say it?
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna say it easy, glazy.
SPEAKER_02Just calm down.
SPEAKER_01And I think I've for sure been um guilty of glazing. With your own wife? With my own wife, and then just even in general. Just me doing it. Yeah, I might see somebody, oh my gosh, you look great today. You look fantastic. You working out? You know, I mean easy. I'm taken. And I don't even think it has to be that connotation. It could just be like, okay, enough of the compliments. Like it's a little too much. Almost like a would could you say it a a brown nose of our day? Maybe. I I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. Well, that's an interesting one. I've never heard that one. Tell me if you've heard this. Okay. Jason? I got zero motion.
SPEAKER_01I'm completely boxed. I have not heard of any of that at any given point. Say it again just so I can kind of get it really into my brain.
SPEAKER_02I have no motion going on. I am in fact, you don't even have to say going on. I got zero motion, completely boxed.
SPEAKER_01I I'm just gonna make an assumption. So this will be kind of fun. Let's do this. Like, I'm gonna be out of context. I'm gonna say that you're spent, you're beat, you're exhausted. Nope. Okay.
SPEAKER_02The motion is our plans. You've got nothing going on. Like, there's you have you and your friends have no idea what you're gonna do. There's zero motion.
SPEAKER_01So for your teenagers, that's a horrible thing. For maybe you and I and our lovely wives and friends, kind of nice. It's kind of nice. Like, we got nothing going on this Saturday. We've got no motion.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, exactly. Now, if you're boxed, yeah, you you've got you can't go anywhere. There's nothing you can do to make it like you're boxed in. Does that make sense?
SPEAKER_01As it relates to no motion? Usually. I got no motion unboxed, meaning I've got nothing going on, and even if there was something going on, I couldn't participate.
SPEAKER_02Hmm. I think he's using it like when his friends are all gonna be gone. Okay. He's ran out of options. Okay. That's more of there's no options unboxed. I got no motion and I'm boxed. Yeah, I I have there's there's really nothing to do. We're boxed. Okay. So it we would rather have the motion. Yes. But if there's no motion there, we can't figure anything out, we're boxed.
SPEAKER_01Seems good. Yeah, I like it. I do too. I I'm gonna I'm gonna do my best to use some of these into my daily uh uh lexicon, if you will. Uh I would like you to do so, especially around the teens. They're gonna love it. I do, I think, I do remember from our previous episode, Dave, when we talked about this, that uh was it was it Griff that said, hey, if you're 18 or younger or older, you can't use those words.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I think they would prefer that, but no, I'm using them. I'm using them all I want.
SPEAKER_01Okay, let me ask you this one. What about I feel like this is two, like mew or mewing? That's no something. I it's something it's something. I even had to Google it. And I wish You gotta be careful what you Google because like Mew, Mew, Mew, it's like a cat. Like kitty cat. But that's not, I mean, mewing, and there also is uh we're not filming this one for the YouTube, so apologies to the YouTube crowd, but um uh there's some action where you take your it's like down the jaw, like you ever to go, maybe down your jaw, turn your face towards me, mewing. It's like um it's uh it's it's a little bit uh I don't know, it feels a little bit romantic in its nature. Really? It's like it's kind of like turn face to you, grab your chin, trace your jawline, turn your chin to mine, and then who knows what happens at that point.
SPEAKER_02I don't care for the mu one.
SPEAKER_01No, I don't either, and I don't even know how I would ever even use it. I don't even know how to use it.
SPEAKER_02If you're mewing, you've glazed, right? I mean, that's you're getting glazing. But possibly. I think that I think that's the case. Oh, you let me tell you. In fact, I think if you're with a woman and you mew, you're cooked.
SPEAKER_01And that takes us to our next one. Our next one. And but before you jump into cooked, let me just tell you one thing. Every single teen, our kids, if they listen to this, they are they're they're gonna be like cringe. Yeah, oh yeah. And that that's I mean, that's an older the way we analyze this. Like, now what is this mew thing? Mew. Is it a kitty cat? No, it has something to do, and I actually read online, you're supposed to put it it helps give you that chiseled jaw. Yeah, so anyway, it's more of an exercise.
SPEAKER_02Well look, when you get to the age that we're at, yes, this chiseled jaw that you speak of, I'm using air quotes, yeah, doesn't really exist. No, it doesn't. As we go back to the whole donut glazed thing, you know, we're we're gonna have an extra chin or yeah, you say glaze, I say donut, and nobody's mewing at all.
SPEAKER_01No. Okay, I didn't mean to jump ahead, but you said cooked.
SPEAKER_02Cooked. If you are cooked, that's no good. But if you're cooking, very good. Okay, so cooked in the past tense, no good.
SPEAKER_01No good. But if you're cooking, that's really good. Does cooked in the past tense mean like again, every time I hear a word like that and I feel like like I'm exhausted, I'm spent, I'm cooked. We're cooked, I'm baked. Yeah, we're done. Is that what it means? We're done. Yeah. Stick a fork in me, I am done. Yeah, you're cooked. Okay, but that's not so that's not good. But it's is it it's not negative, right? It just means like maybe Oh, it is. Yeah. So like, hey, I just played a hard football game, I'm cooked.
SPEAKER_02No. I've I guess maybe you could use it that way, but I've heard it more of negatively like like sh they're cooked. You know, they're they're they're not gonna get anything good out of this. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You and I are trying to use our vocabulary. Yeah. This is not easy. And there are no synonyms in the slang. Okay, but what if you're cooking? Is that just the opposite? You're rolling.
SPEAKER_02You're on fire, you're on hot. Yeah, I I'm shooting jumper, I'm making jumper after jumper, I'm cooking. Slapping. No, that's food. Slapping. That's the new business. No, yes, it is. This slaps. Like this burger slaps. Oh, slaps, yeah. That that burger slaps. Okay. Oh, I thought that was all about your wardrobe. No. Okay. No, but it's clapped if it's no good. It's clapped. Yeah, that's clapped.
SPEAKER_01I feel like you've got to be real careful with that one because you don't want to get clapped. The clap. And you don't want to catch the clap. Yeah, you don't. It's not the clap.
SPEAKER_02But I mean, you don't want that either. No, you don't either, but it's clapped. Yeah, you're clapped.
SPEAKER_01It's clapped. Yeah. And that means same as cooked. Yeah. No. No. I mean, kinda. Okay. Okay. We're I think we've talked about this before, but we may have to have Teen Talk episode three where we actually bring some teens to make a panel. A panel. A panel discussion.
SPEAKER_02Do we go from like four 13-14 all the way up to 18, 19? That's a good question because what the 13, 14-year-olds are saying is basically whatever they hear the 18-19s say.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean probably safer with the older ones. Yeah. Well, I don't know. I mean, we'll play that by ear. All I know is we don't know we're classic. And I my Riz is shot. You're not kidding. Um I heard a go ahead. No, well, this one I know that you know we all know, vibing. Yeah, we're vibing. Like, ooh, I'm what you doing? Just vibing. Vibing. Or even like, like, I like this vibe. Mm-hmm. Okay, digging this vibe. Okay. Listening to a song, I like the vibe. Or we're like, maybe you and I are like, we are on, we're vibing this podcast.
SPEAKER_00Or we're gonna roll.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we're dialed. Dialed in. Yeah, we just dialed.
SPEAKER_02Oh, just dial dialed in next at all. You can just say, Yeah, we're we're dialed. We're rolling here. We're dialed. Okay. Um, I heard one the other day that was so funny. Okay. So, so Griffey and Ollie and I were headed to Portland for for basketball for Oliver. And Griff goes, I'm gonna raw dog this whole flight.
SPEAKER_01I'm like a raw dog this? I don't even know what that means. I mean, I I I feel like I have a yes. Uh yeah, I can take a guess, but I don't know if I should.
SPEAKER_02It has nothing to do with taking off your shoes and socks. Okay, okay. Because those are your I mean you can't, I guess you let your dogs out. Yeah, that's the same thing. And that they'd be raw dogs.
SPEAKER_01Or let certain parts of your body just, you know, just raw dogging. Like you're just you just I've started to use raw dogging pretty much for everything.
SPEAKER_02I think you should be careful.
SPEAKER_01I think you should be careful because I think you can too. I but I I need to know what the well you tell me what it means in this day and age, because it means it's a great difference.
SPEAKER_02He's not gonna listen to anything on his headphones, he's not gonna watch anything on the TV monitor in front of him. All he can do is read the the uh safety manual in the little seat back the you the whole way. Well, that seems like it's good. Just gonna raw dog this flight.
SPEAKER_01Just almost like he's unplugging. Yeah, raw dogging it. Okay. I uh I that is uh it feels like it's making me blush a little bit. But why can't I mean I just I feel like you could raw dog other things. I think you could like just again with the just raw dog from the phone.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I was leave my phone at home and raw dog this whole day. Raw dog it all day. I'm gonna raw dog this whole day.
SPEAKER_01We got I got I got zero electronics or distractions. Just gonna raw dog it. Okay, well, I um I uh I'm gonna reserve the right to uh uh that one cracked me up.
SPEAKER_02And yeah, as it should, as it should. Uh that's been on the internet. Really? Yeah, I don't think Griffey came up with that one. Well, uh listen, if he did, I'd like to give him the credit if he did. Me too. Griff criff says some of the dangest things, but I he's I mean, he's this funny kid, but he's not coming up with this stuff, right? No, well, where does that come from?
SPEAKER_01I don't know where it comes from, um, but it leads me into the next one because you telling me that Griff said that is going to live rant-free in my head. Good. Ramp free. I think that's another one. Rent-free it is. Rent-free. Like that's gonna be in there. Yeah, and I'm glad that it is rent-free. I'm not gonna even charge it any space to be in there. Just live in rent-free. I'm up in your dome.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. He's he's in your dome.
SPEAKER_01Is that synonymous in your head?
SPEAKER_02Synonym of that, yeah. Yeah. How about um he said I don't understand when he says method. He says that that's method. Oh. Like it's uh like textbook? He's got maybe. Like he he's figured it out.
SPEAKER_01I think it's a method. I can get behind a lot of these. Now, some of them that that has some basis in fact for me. Like if if that's method, it's textbook, you know. I I like that. Like his jumper is method.
SPEAKER_02Or dialed. I'd think they'd say dialed.
SPEAKER_01They'd say dialed? I'm gonna have to get to the bottom of method and get back to you if that's okay. Well, what about this one? Have you ever heard I'm I'm jumping down in my list here. I'm gonna go back, but Skibbity.
SPEAKER_02I heard that for the first time a few weeks ago, and I'm still not sure I understand what it means.
SPEAKER_01I didn't know what it means either. Um, I did have to consult the World Wide Web on that, and uh the the simple definition was just bad. The fact that you're having to look it up online cracks me up. Urban urban dictionary.
SPEAKER_02What does this mean, Google? What skibbity? Skibbity. Uh it means you're old. And you don't if you don't know, it means you're old.
SPEAKER_01It's like that meme that says, you know, the fact that you text uh I can't remember, but the what gives away your age is that you text in complete sentences.
SPEAKER_02Uh, that is my age. I I I cannot get a change. They're just a word with no punctuation. No. And uh the IDKs.
SPEAKER_01No, I don't either. Um, thanks T H X. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Just spell it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, or B R B be Right Back.
SPEAKER_02I I know there's enough of those where I'm like, just just just say what you're meaning.
SPEAKER_01That's a whole podcast in its own, but that to me is I'm gonna put that in the skibbity column.
SPEAKER_02Bad. Uh I don't care for it. Um I uh overheard Griffe and his buddies. Uh I I can't remember when the case was, but one of them wanted to go do something in particular, and the other one didn't. He said, Um, my bread is down.
SPEAKER_01I this is all new to me. I don't even know what that means. Well, it means he has no money. My bread is down. Okay, I get that. My bread is down.
SPEAKER_02Gotta get my bread up before I can go do it.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's good. I get that. Okay, see, I I probably could have got that in context, I guess. As you just said, he's going to be his friends. My I gotta get my bread up.
SPEAKER_02Hey, let's let's uh let's go to that concert. My bread's down.
SPEAKER_01My bread's down.
SPEAKER_02I gotta get my bread.
SPEAKER_01Well, hey, when I get my bread up, we can go. You probably wouldn't say I gotta replenish the bread. That feels like way too old. Way too big of a word.
SPEAKER_02Replenish. It's just get bread up. Just get bread up. Gotta get my bread up. You gotta get my bread up. I've kind of run low. Does it run low on the bread? No, that runs your pockets. That if that topic, remember I said Griffey one time told me the taco truck ran his pockets?
SPEAKER_01I like that one.
SPEAKER_02I know. I like that. He's just expensive. And he and he and he blamed it on the taco truck. Yeah, he went to the taco truck and it was expensive. That taco truck ran my pockets. Ran my pockets.
SPEAKER_01Hey, I got one that I that I heard, but I and I'm I'm not ashamed to say it. I had to Google it because I didn't even know what it meant. And in context, I didn't get it. Have you ever heard of choogie? No. Chugi. No.
SPEAKER_02That's not something. It's something. No, it isn't. And it's like you would say. I think it's tobacco. No.
SPEAKER_01It's like a fun way of saying, hey, should I have a chugi? I don't think that's it. I don't, I don't think. Hey, pass me. Can I have can I have a little choogie? You know, on my lip. No, I don't.
SPEAKER_02What do you got there in your back pocket? Looks like a little choogie.
SPEAKER_01I don't think that's what the baseball players are saying these days.
SPEAKER_02Well, if they're good friends, maybe.
SPEAKER_01Can I get some chiggy? No, I'm gonna give this in a sentence. Now, this is I'm just telling you right now, this is an untrue sentence. Okay. Okay. So actually, in I I knew I need you guys to all picture in your mind that Dave was wearing a horrible shirt. Horrible. Okay. Horrible. And then I would say to you, ugh, chooggy. You're looking choogy today. Really? Which means outdated, unfashionable, or maybe you're trying too hard to be trendy. Zero drip. Zero drip. Choogie would be the the the opposite to zero drip. To drip to have to being dripping. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I think that's true. I well, I'd I mean, I'm gonna check with my sources and see.
SPEAKER_01Hey, could it be where did you hear that one? Uh I just I saw it on a face uh saw on a Facebook meme, which right then all of a sudden it's probably old. Maybe because you're on Facebook. Yeah, because nobody else, none of these kids are on Facebook.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm gonna check, I'll check my sources. I'll get to with my people, and and uh we'll check with your people. I'm gonna ask them. Um But you know what, Jason? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's not deep, it's not that deep to beef. Okay. It's not that deep to beef. Oh, it's not that important. Yeah, let's not argue about it. We got no beef. There's no beef. There's no beef, it's not deep enough.
SPEAKER_02It's not deep enough to beef. It's not deep, it's not too deep to beef. It's not that deep to beef. Have you heard a kid say that? Griffin said it. It's not a big that's another one of Griffey's he's just not too worried about things.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he's an asset. He's just not too worried about it. It's not too deep to beef. That's not deep enough to beef? It's not that deep to beef. Okay, it's not that deep to beef. Yeah. I like that. Um, what about um Sigma? Have you heard Sigma? Like Sigma Alpha pie? Yeah. I think it means. Good though. Really? Sigma. I I feel like I have heard this one. Never heard it myself. I I want you to I keep turning to to Griff as uh and you know and you know my oldest is she's almost 15, so she's she definitely knows a lot of these. Uh but Sigma, I've heard that other than just online. Sigma Pi. I don't think it's Pi, I think it's just Sigma. Just Sigma? Sigma. But I don't think you could I don't well, possibly, but I don't think you can use it in the context of like food. Really? That's dripping, right? No, it's slapping. Slapping.
SPEAKER_00Slaps.
SPEAKER_01Just slaps. Not busting anymore. Like, I think, you know, Sigma. Like uh this party's Sigma. I don't know, that makes sense.
SPEAKER_02I I'm gonna have to check with my people again on Sigma. I don't know about that. Um Have you gotten sturdy with it?
SPEAKER_01Can you get sturdy with it? That almost sounds like you're ordering like a Philly cheesesteak with or without.
SPEAKER_02It really just means you you can dance. Oh you can get hey, get sturdy with it. Like when somebody dances and the kids are, oh hey, hey, hey, who can get sturdy with it? Actually, I don't even know. Yeah, how do we know?
SPEAKER_01What do we what do we know? Um what if what if I were to say you were moggin? Moggin. I don't know if you need if it's a hard ing, moggin, or just moggin. It's spelled moggin, M O G G I-N-G. Mogging. I don't want to do it.
SPEAKER_02I don't know what it is. No, you do want to be mogging.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you do want to be mogging. Mogging would be maybe the opposite of chooggy. Like you're looking better than someone else.
SPEAKER_02So is that the new dripping? I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Maybe it changed in the course of the last 23 minutes. I think it did. It might have. I again. I So you're wearing you're looking good. Or better than at least somebody else. Maybe it's a pure comparison. It makes my cake look great. You've said a few things today that I'm like, I don't, I don't, I don't think you say that. I think your cake looks great as your backside. It is. Like you want a slice of that cake? I don't want this to get PG 13. No, I don't either, but I'm afraid we've already dipped our toe into those waters. But if we did it, it was unintentional. Yeah, it is. Unintentional.
SPEAKER_02This this is we're not getting there. No, we're not getting there. But that's what cake is. Yeah, okay. To all of the all of the older people out there that are wondering what the world cake is.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, oh. I think it's your backside. And I let's just say that um I I have more cakes than that I don't do with cake.
SPEAKER_02What are the different layers? You got the five-layer cake. Exactly.
SPEAKER_01Five layer cake. Like it's just like, oh, I just, you know, it could just go with so many different directions. I'm more of one of those like um, you know, just like a like a like a hand pie. Just delicious. Your minced pie. Oh, that's so nasty. Okay, let's move on. Yeah, okay. I you've got, I don't have a whole lot more, but I do. You mentioned uh our good buddy Steve Stacy. He asked his kids, and I wrote them down, but I'll be honest with you, you hadn't heard of them, I haven't heard of them. But again, is that the difference between a senior in high school now? It could be.
SPEAKER_02We're gonna have to go and have a just a just a sit-down conversation with with uh is it Savannah? I think it was Savannah, because she said, Let me cook. Well, does that have something to do with their like we're cooking? We're cooking. We're moving, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I that could be. That could be. Okay. Period. I don't know, like that feels like that's straight from the 80s. Like yeah. Period. That's all. That's period. We're done with that. We're done with that. It feels old. But I don't think we're right on that, Mike. I don't think we are. We're probably we'll have to get you know, have some fact-checking here. Dabble.
SPEAKER_02Just I'm dabbling in it. Yeah, I I dabble. I but if if they're saying that, I feel like that's not the right context. I know. Hey, I was watching a show the other day that it took place in at the beginning of World War II. And the one guy said, Are we cooked? Like, are we done? So it might be that we are you know how floods came back and stuff like that? Yeah. Which they shouldn't have, by the way. Yeah, he's talking about the pants. That is zero drift.
SPEAKER_01Not knowing his arc, but just the pants.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. Exactly. Hope the big hope the big flood didn't come back. But the floody, the floody pants, yeah, they're no good. They shouldn't have come back. I know. But I wonder if words have become almost cyclical?
SPEAKER_01What does that mean again? Just like like uh on a on a repeating basis or a cycle.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you know, yeah, I I think that that could be the case if you know, because if he said cooked, and they were trying to be authentic with yeah, the you know, the not only the language but the the dress and stuff like that. It's possible cooked was used a long time ago.
SPEAKER_01And and maybe dabble as well. Maybe now when I say dabble, I sometimes think, well, a dabble do you?
SPEAKER_02I don't I don't think that. I think do you do you enjoy uh cooking on the grill? Yeah, like I dabble. I dabble. Yeah, I dabble.
SPEAKER_01I know enough to be dangerous.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, exactly. Exactly. That's why I read it, but well again, we'll have to check with our sources.
SPEAKER_01She said function. Hmm. I you know what the very first thing that pops into my head conjunction, junction, watch your function. That was uh That was from the musical? No, like the Saturday morning cartoons. Remember those? Um it was like power hour or whatever, like it'd be like how a bill becomes a law, and they're gonna be able to do that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's from uh there's a musical it's uh not school of rock, but uh but they did school of rock.
SPEAKER_01Um that was Saturday morning. It was school of rock, not the musical school of rock with with um Jack Black. Jack Black, yeah. But school of rock was like these. And it was like these little snippets in between the Saturday morning cartoons.
SPEAKER_02Yes, interesting.
SPEAKER_01Conjunction, conjunction, watch your function. Yeah, I know that's can, cannot, can't. Anyway, yeah, exactly. You're welcome. Which people have a real issue with the their, there, and theirs.
SPEAKER_02And the two, two, and twos. Super easy for me. Me too. I have a problem with that.
SPEAKER_01But some people really struggle, struggle with those. You know where I see the most Facebook people that are angry? No, there's almost a gap between maybe our generation and then of course our kids. They're not using Facebook, but there's a generation that's kind of using it, and I see that they're there and they're used, and two, two, and two. I'm like, oh come on. Yeah, we can be better. We be better. It's kind of like that Hallmark card that would go along with your idea of like you know what your problem is. It's like get better cards. And they're they're not about the sick and the afflicted. They're just like, I'm gonna give you a get better card because I think you could do a lot better. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_02Just come to my new store. It's called uh what what's my store called?
SPEAKER_01Uh You know what your problem is. Yeah, do you know what your problem is? Do you know what your problem is? Yeah. Um nonchalant, that's just a word, isn't it? That's what I thought. Hello with a question mark? Like, that's like that's like hello, that's like um that's like that's back to the future. That's big. McFly.
SPEAKER_02McFly, hello. So if she's using it that way, I don't know. I think she's from like the 80s.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but she's like 17 or 18.
SPEAKER_02She's an old soul. We're gonna have to have a word with her.
SPEAKER_01We have to word with her. And the last one that she wrote down, but this is it was like very mindful, very demure. I think we're getting into mewing now with that one. Demure? Demure. Sounds like French.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, at mewing. Oh, yeah, we're gonna have to check with our people on these.
SPEAKER_01I mean, uh we we've But I'd like to think we've helped out. Oh, for sure we have. I mean, there's a few of these that are gonna stick. Again, a few of these are gonna live in my mind rep-free. Good. As they should. And I'm gonna try and use them. And so let's see, if I were to create a sentence.
SPEAKER_02Uh you don't hear words like okie dokie anymore. You know what I mean? No. Some of the old school stuff.
SPEAKER_01What did they say? You know what one we didn't talk about? I think we talked about it last time. Like jiat, yat? It's like G-Y-A-T. I don't think that's it. I think it means cake. Really? Yeah. Yat.
SPEAKER_02That's not even a word. I don't know if that's a sound. But I feel like I've heard your boy saying No, you haven't. I haven't heard that one in my house. Nope. I haven't heard that in my house.
SPEAKER_01I want to I need some feedback on that one.
SPEAKER_02Go back to your people. We're gonna have to research all this.
SPEAKER_01Some of my people are just simply Google. Yeah, we'll check that. Don't Google. I think you need to go to the sources. I'll do what I can. I'm gonna ask them.
SPEAKER_02I'll I'll ask the sources as soon as we finish up. I mean, we should the old school words like okie dokie, I think, need to come back. I would embrace it. Yeah, just let's be let's use happy words. Just oakley dokally. We should do a lot of things. Isn't that what the one of the guys on uh Simpson Simpsons used to say that? Oakley Dokley neighbor.
SPEAKER_01Flinders. Yeah. Oakley.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's just a nice thing.
SPEAKER_01Um this has been uh this podcast has been Sigma. I don't think you can say that. Well like that. That's a horrible use of the term. Well, it's we're not very dialed.
SPEAKER_02No. We're not dialed. We're skibbity. No. Well, I'll tell you what we are. We're clapped.
unknownYep.
SPEAKER_02We're clapped. We're clapped. We're happening.
SPEAKER_01We are clapped.
